My Valentine is a Zombie (Swept Away Post 2)

warmbodies1

Welcome to the second round of the Swept Away Blog Hop. (Round 1)

Have you seen Warm Bodies? It’s a twist on the typical zombie story because the romance isn’t between zombie fighters, but between a human and a zombie. Now that’s romance, isn’t it?

For the past few years I admit I’ve been baffled by the lure of the zombie flick. I tried watching The Walking Dead but couldn’t really stomach the gore. I’m not a fan of horror flicks and while my friends were raving about the show I was never able to get into it.

But Warm Bodies actually sounds like it might be my kind of zombie movie. A zombie that must somehow be lovable and capable of thought and communication. That’s great. And like Shrek, the lesson must be that your hero doesn’t have to be tall, dark and handsome to win the girl. Yes, I understand that coming from a romance writer, that last thought might sound somewhat disingenuous, but let’s look past that for the time being.

imagesSo, did you like Warm Bodies? Did you buy the love story between the girl and the zombie?

I haven’t seen Warm Zombies, but I read the book and loved it. Despite the macabre subject matter, it was sweet, funny, and original. In the book, the love story was utterly convincing. I’d read it again.

I have not really gotten into the zombie movement *snorts* but the movie actually looks decent, I just haven’t had the time to watch it yet…maybe when it’s out on video…

I, too, am not into the whole zombie thing. They give me the creeps… and then I can’t sleep… Vicious cycle. Anyway, I really want to see Warm Bodies! It looks like it’s so different from the typical, and pretty humorous to boot!

I haven’t seen it, since zombies creep me out, even though I *love* Nicholas Hoult. I learned my lesson when I watched an old TALES OF THE CRYPT (which I normally NEVER would) because Ewan McGregor guest-starred in it. I was disturbed to find him a fairly sexy zombie (leather-clad, subtle makeup, basically looked like a club kid)…until [spoiler alert] half his face got torn off in the finale. Just upsetting all around.

  8. Veronica says:

I like the concept but the movie doesn’t look like I’ll be too good. (I have heard people say otherwise). So I’ll probably see it!

I haven’t seen the movie. I’m not much of a fan of zombies, except for Megan Derr’s Midnight book, where Midnight is an unique one.

I’m not one to watch zombie movies. But my daughter wants to see it so I will probably wind up sitting through it after it comes out on DVD, since there is only one TV in the house, unless I get lucky enough that she will watch it on her computer.
